Daghles comes up with final roster for Tehran

AMMAN (2016 FIBA Asia Challenge) - Jordan will have half of their roster from the 2015 FIBA Asia Championship when they travel to Tehran to participate in the 2016 FIBA Asia Challenge in September.

Sam Daghles has included Mousa Al Alawadi, Ahmed Al Hamarsheh, Mohammad Hussein, Ali Zaghab, Malek Kanaan and Zaid Abbas – members of the squad that finished ninth in Changsha-Hunan – in this year’s event.

Zaid Abbas was one of Jordan’s few bright spots in Changsha. He finished second behind naturalized Alex Legion in scoring (13 points per game) and led the team in rebounding with 8 rebounds per contest.

Jordan's naturalized player in Iran will be Dar Tucker. The 28-year-old is a very experienced player, and Daghles will be hoping to see him lead the team by example in Tehran.

As part of their preparations for the FIBA Asia Challenge, the team travelled to Turkey on Monday for a 10-day training camp where they will also play four warm-up games against local teams before heading to Tehran on 7 September.

The 10-day training camp in Turkey will also help Daghles, who was appointed as coach earlier this year, to analyze and assess his players and make necessary adjustments.

Jordan booked their place in the FIBA Asia Challenge with a second-place finish in the recent WABA Championship, which they hosted in Amman.

The top five teams in the FIBA Asia Challenge will earn for their respective sub-zones an extra berth in the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup (formerly the FIBA Asia Championship).
