Uruguay name team for Japan friendlies

MONTEVIDEO (FIBA AmeriCup 2017) - Uruguay have announced a 12-man team that is to travel and play three friendly games against Japan in the Far East.

Marco Signorelli's side is warming up for the FIBA AmeriCup 2017, which tips off 25 of August.

They will take on the Japanese, who are now led by former Argentina coach Julio Lamas, on the 27th, 29th and 30th of July before returning to South America to continue their training.

Among the veterans making the trip are big man Esteban Batista, guard Bruno Fitipaldo, power forward Sebastian Vazquez and center Kiril Wachsmann.

Emiliano Serres and Nicolas Borsellino have been working out with the squad but are not headed to the Far East.

Efes Istanbul's Jayson Granger, has arrived in Uruguay but will not begin practicing with the team until they return from Japan. He will be available for the friendly games against Argentina in Bigua on the 12th and 13th of August.

Granger has been working on his conditioning.

Uruguay will host Group C in Montevideo and face the Dominican Republic, USA and Panama.
