25 players commit to Cote d'Ivoire for FIBA AfroBasket 2017 preparations

ABIDJAN (FIBA AfroBasket 2017) – Cote d’ Ivoire are leaving nothing to chance in their bid to storm Angola in August with a strong team that would compete effectively for the FIBA AfroBasket crown.

In the process, the Ivorian Basketball Federation is currently working on a 25-players list who have committed to represent the nation this summer.

The bulk of the players is expected to jet into the team’s training camp from France, the USA, Spain, Italy, Germany, Greece, Denmark, Macedonia and England to mention a few.

Aside from Kone, there is also French-Ivorian Vafessa Fofana, who last played for Hermine de Nantes Atlantique in France's Pro B.

According to Mathieu Agui, President of Cote d’Ivoire Basketball Federation, "It's a good thing to have a group of players ready to fight for our country. This group will be completed with some local players. And at the end of the preparation stages, the final roster will be released for the FIBA AfroBasket 2017," he said to FIBA.com.

"I just want to make it clear. This is not our shortlist for the upcoming event as it has been said. As all of them have pledged allegiance to their homeland, the coaching crew led by Hugues Occansey will work with them in order to build a competitive team for a better performance,” Agui pointed out.
