Saskatoon win 3x3 World Tour Lausanne Masters

LAUSANNE (2016 FIBA 3x3 World Tour) - After falling just short at the Mexico City (3rd) and Prague Masters (2nd) earlier this season, Team Saskatoon (CAN) won the 2016 FIBA 3x3 World Tour Lausanne Masters - the fourth of seven Masters - after an intense 17-14 success against Paris (FRA) in the final on 26-27 August 2016.

Saskatoon are the fourth team to qualify to the World Tour Final in Abu Dhabi on 27-28 October, after Caguas (PUR), Novi Sad Al Wahda (UAE) and Ljubljana (SLO).

The shortest player in the tournament (1.78m) Michael Linklater caught fire in the final game with a game-high 9 points, which helped him seal the MVP trophy. Lausanne Masters top scorer Nolan Brudehl added 5. Michael Lieffers and Willie Murdaugh contributed 2 and 1 respectively.

Maxime Courby led Paris in scoring with 5 points, including a mean dunk in the losing effort.

Saskatoon had a perfect 5-0 record in the heart of the Olympic capital and got the massive crowd to its feet.

US pro dunker Douglas Anderson also became a fan favourite after dominating the Citycable Dunk Contest.

Though Team Lausanne lost in the quarter-finals, local fans had reasons to rejoice when the Swiss 3x3 national team narrowly edged out France in an exhibition game and when 22-year-old Marco Lehmann (Lausanne) won the Shoot-Out Contest.

The fifth Masters of the season will be staged in Debrecen, Hungary on 7-8 September 2016.
