Sibiu 3x3 Challenger Preview: Can Zemun do it again?

SIBIU (3x3 Challenger) - Zemun (SRB) have a chance to win their third challenger of the season and secure a ticket to a 4th FIBA 3x3 World Tour Masters at the Sibiu 3x3 Challenger in Romania on July 15-16.

While 4 of the Top 10 teams in the World are in Canada for the World Tour Saskatoon Masters, Zemun have a unique chance to continue to climb in the rankings.

After getting an automatic spot in the Mexico City Masters based on their #8 rank in the FIBA 3x3 Team Ranking at the end of last season, Zemun qualified for 2 additional Masters by shining in challengers, these international tournaments which qualify 2 teams to the World Tour directly.

They made it to Utsunomiya (JPN) thanks to winning the first Challenger of the season in Nanjing (CHN) and clinched qualification to Chengdu (CHN) by winning the Huai An Challenger.

Novi Sad Al Wahda (6) and Ljubljana (4) are the only two teams which have collected more Masters tickets than Zemun so far this season.

Besides Zemun, who currently rank 6th in the FIBA 3x3 Team Ranking, Amsterdam (NED) (10th) and Belgrade (SRB) (11th) will be the other teams to watch in Sibiu.

The 2 finalists will qualify to the Prague Masters on August 5-6.

The 16 participating teams will also be coveting the 10,000 USD in prize money.

The event takes place from 2 to 10.30pm (GMT+3) on Saturday July 15 and from 5.20 to 8.30pm on Sunday July 16 and will be livestreamed on the official FIBA 3x3 YouTube channel.
